Overview
Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) is the most widely used titanium alloy. With steel-like strength at about 56% of the density, it has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of the metals we machine.
It is corrosion resistant, non-magnetic and biocompatible, which is why it dominates aerospace and implant applications.
Key Properties
Typical values from the MatWeb datasheet for Titanium Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5), Annealed. Machined parts take the properties of the stock they are cut from.

Typical Applications
- Aerospace brackets and fasteners
- Medical implants and instruments
- Motorsport and cycling parts
- Marine and chemical hardware
Machining Notes
Low thermal conductivity concentrates heat at the cutting edge, so speeds are low and tool wear is high — expect a much higher machining cost than aluminum.
