Overview
Inconel 718 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium superalloy. After aging it delivers very high tensile and creep-rupture strength up to about 650 °C.
It is the standard alloy for jet-engine and gas-turbine components, cryogenic parts and high-strength fasteners.
Key Properties
Typical values from the MatWeb datasheet for Special Metals INCONEL® Alloy 718. Machined parts take the properties of the stock they are cut from.

| Tensile strength | 1100 MPa @ 650 °C |
| Yield strength | 1100 MPa |
| Elongation at break | 25 % |
| Thermal conductivity | 11.4 W/m-K |
| Melting range | 1260–1336 °C |
| Magnetic permeability | 1.0011 |
Typical Applications
- Jet engine and turbine parts
- Rocket and space hardware
- High-strength fasteners
- Oil and gas tooling
Machining Notes
Datasheet tensile values are for precipitation-hardened material (one measured at 650 °C). Very slow to machine; aging is usually done after roughing.
