Overview
7075 is a zinc-based aluminum alloy and one of the strongest aluminum grades available as plate. In the T6/T651 temper it approaches the tensile strength of many carbon steels at roughly a third of the weight.
The trade-offs are lower corrosion resistance than 6061, poor weldability and a higher material price, so it is used where strength-to-weight really matters.
Key Properties
Typical values from the MatWeb datasheet for Aluminum 7075-T6; 7075-T651. Machined parts take the properties of the stock they are cut from.

Typical Applications
- Aerospace and drone structures
- High-load brackets and arms
- Bicycle and motorsport parts
- Molds and tooling plates
Machining Notes
Machines very well and holds tight tolerances; avoid welding. Hard anodizing is recommended for wear or corrosion exposure.
