Overview
POM (acetal copolymer, often called Delrin-type or 塑鋼) is one of the easiest plastics to machine to tight tolerances. It is stiff, low friction, wear resistant and absorbs very little moisture.
Our reference grade is extruded Acetron GP / Ertacetal C stock in natural white.
Key Properties
Typical values from the MatWeb datasheet for Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials Acetron™ GP / Ertacetal™ C POM-C Extruded Acetal. Machined parts take the properties of the stock they are cut from.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Density | 1.41 g/cm³ |
| Tensile strength | 66.0 MPa |
| Hardness | Rockwell M 84 |
| Thermal conductivity | 0.231 W/m-K |
| Max service temp. (continuous, air) | 98.9 °C |
| Heat deflection temp. @ 1.8 MPa | 104 °C |
| Melting range | 168 °C |
Typical Applications
- Gears, cams and rollers
- Bushings and slide blocks
- Precision fixtures and nests
- Food-machinery parts
Machining Notes
Machines cleanly with sharp tools; avoid continuous use above about 100 °C. Not easily bonded or painted.
