Overview
PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is a semi-crystalline high-performance plastic with outstanding temperature, chemical and wear resistance, and strength close to some light metals at a fraction of the weight.
Our reference grade is unfilled extruded Ketron 1000 PEEK in its natural tan color.
Key Properties
Typical values from the MatWeb datasheet for Mitsubishi Chemical Advanced Materials Ketron™ 1000 PEEK, Extruded Unfilled Polyetherether Ketone. Machined parts take the properties of the stock they are cut from.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Density | 1.31 g/cm³ |
| Tensile strength | 115 MPa |
| Hardness | Rockwell M 105 |
| Thermal conductivity | 0.25 W/m-K |
| Max service temp. (continuous, air) | 249 °C |
| Heat deflection temp. @ 1.8 MPa | 160 °C |
| Melting range | 340 °C |
Typical Applications
- Semiconductor and wafer-handling parts
- Medical and sterilizable components
- Aerospace interior and insulators
- High-temperature bushings and seals
Machining Notes
Very expensive stock, so material cost dominates on larger parts. Annealing may be recommended for tight-tolerance parts.
